FIRE-RATED SEALED GLASS UNIT
FOR EXTERIOR FACADE
First introduced in North America in 1984, Contraflam® is a fire resistant glass with one or more chambers of tempered safety glass and sealed to be completely moisture resistant. The chambers are filled with an environmentally friendly and transparent chemical mixture based on UV stable alkali silicate which reacts in the event of fire. This intumescent middle layer expands as an opaque foam, limiting heat transmission and thus reducing panic by blocking the view of the affected areas.
SEALED GLASS UNIT
The Contraflam IGU® shares the same characteristics as the Contraflam®, but comes with an insulated double-glass unit for exterior applications. The low “U-value” denotes significant potential for energy savings through enhanced thermal insulation and the application of high-performance, low-emission solar control coatings.

- UL listed up to 180 minutes and available for the following protections: 60, 90, 120 and 180 minutes.
Contraflam IGU® glass must be paired with the Vetrotech VDS Curtain-Wall® system to be compliant.

FIRE TEST
Hundreds of fire tests performed each year in Vetrotech's ISO17025 accredited laboratories.
In addition, all products that have a rating of 45 minutes or more are subject to the "Hose Stream Test" according to North American building regulations.

VDS CURTAIN-WALL® SYSTEM
This system provides a fire-rated frame assembly that combines framing, doors and glazing for an all-in-one barrier of up to 180 minutes for interior or exterior applications.
