TEMPERED GLASS
Reinforced glass by heat treatment
Tempered glass is glass transformed by heat treatment with a tempering process which hardens the material. Also known as “heat-tempering”, this process increases the temperature of the glass to a temperature between 570°C and 700°C depending on its composition, i.e. close to the softening point, and then to cool it quickly. This treatment hardens the material (hardened glass), which means that tempered glass is at least 4 times more resistant to impacts than conventional monolithic glass.
