LAMINATED GLASS

Laminated safety glass

Laminated glass, also safety glass, is made up of two or more panes of glass which are joined together by extremely resistant elastic interlayers.

The thickness of the glass and the interlayer depends on the requirements to be met. Indeed, the combination of different glasses thicknesses and films makes it possible to obtain protection against objects impacts, infringements, and also offers superior acoustic insulation.

Unlike tempered glass, when laminated glass breaks, the glass shards remain attached to the film, like a spider's web.

Note that laminated glass can be used for “design” and decorative purposes, through tinted interlayer films, prints and/or special inserts.

Lamine-VS-trempe

*Left: Clear laminated glass, may crack under pressure or impact, but maintains integrity with interlayer.
*Right: Tempered glass that completely shatters into small, blunt pieces.
